How to watch HD TV?

This question has been asked in many forums which I will try to answer to my best of knowledge. I myself was puzzled why people buy HD LCD TV but didnt know they are not using to the maximum potential for what they are paying. I am going to list some of the ways which you can view HD content on your LCD TV.

1) Playstation 3
This is the one of main reason why I bought my HD TV. Although most of the games are played in 750p HD the playstation has another function to play Blu Ray Disc which gives 1080p HD. This is the best HD content you can get in the market. Impressed I am with the picture quality it can give and you wont want to buy another DVD.

2) Xbox 360
Same like Playstation 3 the Xbox 360 has the function to plays HD DVD with 1080p HD.

3) Starhub HD Channel
Starhub offer 3 HD channel which you need to subscribe to HD Plus at $16.05.
- Discovery HD (Ch 302)
- HD SHOWCASE (Ch 303)
- NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL HD (Ch 301)

4) HD 5 Channel
Two ways to watch HD5 Channel. You can subsribe to Mio TV which they provide free HD5 Channel or you can buy your HD setup box to view free to air HD5. I will show here how free to air HD 5 is received by the Draco HDTV stb.

I bought the Draco HDTV stb from Harvery Norman at $299 without buying any AV system from them. It comes with a indoor antenna which you can use if you dont have an outdoor antenna. Most new HDB homes dont come with outdoor antenna. You cant use starhub cable point to connect to Draco.

HDMI and Component cable connection (Center)

Just point this indoor antenna to open field from your window and hopefully you can receive free to air HD5. You will be able to view the signal quality on your TV screen by pressing "menu" twice on your Draco remote control.

Below is a sample from of HD content from HD5. Took them at night without flash.

Do note that Draco HDTV stb can only receive HD5 and other standard channel like CNA, Channel 8, TV mobile (No Channel U). So consider if its worthwhile to get Draco stb just for this HD5 Channel. There are also other brand of HDTV stb in the market which you want to look at. Personally its unbearable to watch any standard channel on my HD LCD TV after having HD5.
