Logitech G25 Steering Wheel

Just added a new gadget for my PS3. Its the high end steering wheel from Logitech called G25. Got this from the IT Show 2008 at $450 from the Logitech distributor. It was out of store on the first day of the IT Show and the polite salesman quoted me $450 from $499 as listed. Check out some of the stores in Funan Center and most of them are out of stock or costing as much as $465-$499.

Went back the next day to the IT Show and got it from the same salesman at $450. Whats so special about this steering wheel to cost so much where others are selling in the range of $100+? Well if you look at the quality of the build and the function it has, you wouldnt be surprised of its price tag. Do a search on the web and you will get good review on its 900 degree steering capability, additonal clutch, leather steering wheel etc.



In the box, you have the steering wheel, pedal and gear shift.

The G25 Steering wheel with clutch control like those used in Formula One. If you look at the underside of the wheel, this is where all the cable from the pedal, gearshift, USB & Power cable are connected to.

The Gearshift has two option of control. 6 Gear manual transmission or 2 way transmission(Up and down to shift gear).

The pedal setup has a accelerator, brake and clutch options. Only some game will support this function.

The Steering Wheel does sound impressive but the headache would be to find something to mount it. If you cash rich then you can look at Playseat www.playseat.com which cost in the range of USD$249 for the seat, steering wheel and pedal mount. Dont forget to add the $180+ freight cost thru Vpost if you really interested to send this to Singapore.

For me, I just make used of my old IKEA side table which cost less then $100 to mount my G25 Steering Wheel. Not fanciful but its practically stable and portable.
